Merit Awards 2016, Karnataka programme organised by The Billawar Association, Mumbai was inaugurated by Shri Jaya C. Suvarna (Chairman – Bharat Bank) and Mr.Nithyanand D Kotian (President-The Billawar Association) on 9th Oct, 2016 at the Rashtriya Billawa Mahamadal Auditorium, Mulky. Mr.Fateh Abdul Rauf (Director-Vishwas Bawa Builders) was the chief guest. Dr. K. Narayan Poojari (Principal-Vijaya College, Mulky) and Dr. Manjuanth Kotian (Principal-Bhuvanedra College, Karkala) were the Guest of Honour on the occasion.
The programme began with a lively session on personality-development by Mrs. Pratibha Kulai (Corporator-Mangalore Municipal Corporation) and quiz by Vishwanath Tonse (Secretary-Education Sub-Committee.)
Ms.Raksha Anchan of Uchilla who has scored 99.52% marks in S.S.L.C was facilitated on the occasion.
More than 450 students who excelled in their studies were invited to the programme. Along with the children, the parents too attended the programme which began at 9 a.m.. The association distributed more than Rs.7 lakhs as cash award and presented certificates of appreciation on the occasion.
Dr.K Narayan Poojari and Dr.Manjuanth Kotian were felicitated on the occasion. Mr. Mohan C Pooajri (founder president Gujarat Billawa Sangha), Ms. Rohini J Salian (Vice-Chairman Bharat Bank) and Mr.Gagadhar K Pooajri, Bhaskar M Salian (Director -Bharat Bank) were present on the stage. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were Rajshekar Kotian, Gopinath Padanga, Mr.Chandrashekar Sanil, Bhaskar V Bangera, Sadashiv A Karkera, Dhanajay S Kotian, Harish G Salian, Shyam D Salian, M Anand Poojari, Raviraj Kallianpur, Mrs. Prema R .Kotian and Mr.Ganesh H Bangera.
