Women’s Day Celebration
INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY CELEBRATION AT BILLAWA BHAVAN
International Women’s Day got off to a colourful start with various cultural and entertainment programmes presented by all Local Offices on 8th March, 2017 at 3.00 p.m, followed by stage function. The dignitaries on the stage were President Nithyanand D. Kotian, Jaya C. Suvarna, Laxman Poojary, Shakuntala K. Kotian, Vidhya Raja Salian, Jayanthi Ullas, Advocate Rohini Salian, Chief Guest Ms. Megha Bhayani, Prabha Bangera and Vilasini Salian.
It was a very memorable day for the Association as a newly elected Mayor of Thane Mahanagar Palika Mrs. Meenakshi R. Shinde (Poojary) graced the function. Mrs Meenakshi Poojary hails from Yenagudde Katpadi near Udupi . It was a proud moment for us, Billawas as she is the first woman from our community elected as Mayor of one of the vibrant Mahanagar Palikas. She was honoured with a bouquet, Scroll of Honour and traditional petha (Head gear) in the gracious presence of our President Shri Nithyanand D. Kotian, our mentor Shri Jaya C. Suvarna and other dignitaries. The Mayor spoke in both Tulu and Marathi languages about her humble beginning and her political journey so far. She thanked the Association for its honour.
Shri Jagadish K. Amin, newly elected Corporator from Andheri East, was also honoured and was presented with bouquet, Scroll of Honour and traditional petha. He also appreciated the gesture of the Association and thanked all.
On this occasion Mrs. Praveeni Dayanad Poojary was also honoured for having received the gold medal for M.A. Degree in Kannada from Mumbai University.
Mrs. Baby Shyam Kuckian, a long serving Committee member of the Association was honoured with bouquet, Scroll of Honour and traditional petha for her yeoman service to the community for last 30 years, alongwith her husband Shri Shyam Kuckian.
On the occasion our Chief Guest Megha Bhayani, Coucilor (Child Behavior & Parenting) delivered a lecture on today’s children and behavioral pattern. She emphasized on parents’ need to empathize with the children and advised to get emotionally involved with the child. She also cautioned that age between 7 to 13 is very crucial and parents to be watchful . She feels parenting advice is more essential than child counseling.
Mrs. Savita Salian Senior Executive from LIC enlightened the audience about the bright career opportunity available with LIC for youngsters.
Public Prosecutor Ms Rohini Salian spoke about challenges faced in her career with few anecdotes.
Our Hon. General Secretary, Dharmapal G. Anchan coordinated the function. Dr. Geetanjali and Smt. Sumtra Bangera compered the programme.
